400 gynecologically ill patients were questioned after having had on operation. A causal relationship was found between the state of education and the quality of the answers given concerning the importance of the practised operation. There was no causal relationship between the patients ages and their answers. In repeated gynecological operations there was an improvement of knowledge of the patients about the necessity of intervention. The authors plead for pre-operative information before gynecological operations adequate to the level of the patients education.
