Number of macrophages as a part of stromal reaction was evaluated in a standard way in the carcinoma of oral cavity, stomach, breast, uterine cervix and lung. Findings were compared with the survival rates of patients. Lack of macrophages in stromal infiltration was a bad prognostic sign in the uterine and pulmonary carcinoma. The same correlation in the other carcinomas was not significant.
