The primary objective of the study was to examine the distribution of various elements, namely Cadmium (Cd), Copper (Cu), Iron (Fe), Nickel (Ni), and Lead (Pb), in the soft tissues, shells, and associated surface sediments of () mangrove snails collected from Sungai Besar Sepang. To conduct the analysis, the preferred and most convenient methods employed were Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) and Atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). The results showed that the mean concentration of elements in the sediments and soft tissues followed the order Fe > Cu > Ni > Pb > Cd, while for the shell of , it was Fe > Ni > Cu > Pb > Cd.•Iron (Fe) showed the highest concentration among all elements monitored in sediments, soft tissues, and shells of .•The PF results indicated higher incorporation of Pb and Ni into shells.•BSAF results showed that shells accumulated more Cu and Cd from sediments, making them effective biomonitors.
该研究的主要目的是检测从雪兰莪双溪槟榔收集的()只红树林蜗牛的软组织、外壳及相关表层沉积物中镉(Cd)、铜(Cu)、铁(Fe)、镍(Ni)和铅(Pb)等各种元素的分布情况。为进行分析,采用的首选且最便捷的方法是仪器中子活化分析(INAA)和原子吸收光谱法(AAS)。结果表明,沉积物和软组织中元素的平均浓度顺序为Fe>Cu>Ni>Pb>Cd,而对于()的外壳,顺序为Fe>Ni>Cu>Pb>Cd。
