Tuberculosis (TB) control depends on healthcare professionals 'knowledge, practice, and self-efficacy when managing high-risk groups. So the study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured educational program in improving nurses' knowledge, practice, and self-efficacy in caring for patients with TB.
A pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design was conducted on 36 nurses at Chest hospital Al Masah al Bahri in port said city and the Chest Hospital in Damietta City, Egypt. Data were collected using three self-administered questionnaires to assess knowledge, practice, and self-efficacy by using convenience sampling from March to August 2019. Data analyses were done by using a paired t-test, a Student -test, and an F-test analysis of variance.
Based on data related to the two groups before and after the study in knowledge, practice (t = 8.27, < 0.001), and self-efficacy (t = 28.91, < 0.001), there was a significant difference between knowledge and overall knowledge scores (t=14, < 0.001). Mean scores were significantly increased for practice items about the nursing role in medication, directed observed therapy, and the overall practice score; and for self-efficacy, which increased from 27.58 to 37.86 ( = <0.001). The results indicate that nurses' knowledge, practice, and self-efficacy were enhanced by the implementation of the educational program.
There is scope for development in knowledge, practice, and self-efficacy using the educational program among nurses. Training programs must be implemented in quality control to aid nurses in realizing the significance of information in reducing disease and death and enhancing the quality of care.
结核病控制取决于医护人员在管理高危人群时的知识、实践和自我效能。因此,本研究旨在评估一项结构化教育计划在提高护士护理结核病患者的知识、实践和自我效能方面的有效性。
对埃及塞得港的阿尔马萨勒巴赫里胸科医院和达米埃塔市胸科医院的36名护士进行了一项前后测准实验设计。2019年3月至8月,采用便利抽样法,通过三份自填式问卷收集数据,以评估知识、实践和自我效能。数据分析采用配对t检验、学生t检验和F检验方差分析。
根据研究前后两组在知识、实践(t = 8.27,P < 0.001)和自我效能(t = 28.91,P < 0.001)方面的数据,知识与总体知识得分之间存在显著差异(t = 14,P < 0.001)。关于护理在用药、直接观察治疗中的作用的实践项目以及总体实践得分的平均得分显著提高;自我效能得分从27.58提高到37.86(P < 0.001)。结果表明,教育计划的实施提高了护士的知识、实践和自我效能。
通过教育计划,护士在知识、实践和自我效能方面有发展空间。必须在质量控制中实施培训计划,以帮助护士认识到信息在减少疾病和死亡以及提高护理质量方面的重要性。
