In 9 out of 10 children with myelomeningocele, the effects of the neurogenic disturbances of micturition on the upper urinary tract were studied by measuring the ureteral pressure. The impairment of the outflow leads to an increase in the ureteral basic pressure and to a reduction and later to the loss of the amplitudes of contraction. If therapy is initiated in time the ureter is able to recover. We found in each case a basic pressure difference from proximal to distal. Its connection with the impairment of the outflow requires further study.
