Epilepsy and pregnancy.

Epileptic patients face added risks during pregnancy, including an increased risk of prenatal complications, obstetric interventions and preterm births. There is also an increased incidence of congenital malformations and drug intoxication in the newborn. Because of the increased risks, all infants born to women with epilepsy should be observed in an intensive care nursery for at least 24 hours.
