Age and short-term feed restriction effects on plasma triglyceride and free fatty acid concentrations in male turkeys.

Age (6 to 68 weeks of age) was without effect on plasma concentrations of free fatty acids (FFA; means + .18 +/- .02 mu eq/ml) and triglycerides (TG; means + .74 +/- mu eq/ml) in male turkeys fed ad libitum practical type growing or breeder diets. Short-term (up to 44 hr) feed restriction resulted in an approximate threefold increase in FFA concentrations and an approximate 70% decrease in TG concentration at all ages.
