Qualitative and quantitative composition of carbohydrates was studied in non-collagenous proteins of human and animal mineralized tissues. Species- and tissue-specific properties, dependence on the rate of mineralization and on the functional characteristics of solid tissues were studied. Role of protein-bound carbohydrates in osteogenesis and physiology of solid tissues are discussed.
