Reactions of ClP(CH)PCl and -MgBrCHX (X = /OMe, /OBu, /Bu, /SiMe) give the diphosphines (-XCH)P(CH)P(-CHX) (-; 47-66%). Additions of , to (COD)PtCl yield (CH(CHP(-CHX)))PtCl (,; 62-88%), which upon reaction with butadiyne (2 equiv; HNEt/cat. CuI) give (CH(CHP(-CHX)))Pt((C≡C)H) (,; 34-76%). Alternatively, - can be accessed from -(tolP)Pt((C≡C)H) and - (30-87%). Reactions of (-tolP)PtCl and H(C≡C)SiR (2 equiv, HNEt/cat. CuI; R = Me/Et/Pr) give -(-tolP)Pt((C≡C)SiR) (77-95%), and subsequent additions of ,, yield the corresponding adducts (CH(CHP(-CHX)))Pt((C≡C)SiR) (R/X = Me/OMe, ; Pr/OMe, ; Pr/OBu, ; Pr/SiMe, ; 52-95%) and (for ) a luminescent diplatinum byproduct with Pt((C≡C)SiMe) units. and hydrolyze in the presence of F to , (92-93%). Reaction of and (HNEt/cat. CuI) affords the PtC polygon ([(CH(CHP(-CHOMe)))Pt(C≡C)] as an HNEt Cl adduct (66%). The C{H} NMR spectra of -, , and ,, feature complex AMXX' (CPtPP') spin systems, and simulations allow values to be extracted. The crystal structures of , ,,, , and are determined and analyzed.
