[Necrectomy in full thickness burns (author's transl)].

54 necrectomies of 10 to 25% have been performed in full thickness burns covering up to 50% body surface. The optimal time for the procedure is between the 5th to 9th day after the accident. The loss of blood is considerable and should be substituted during the operation. After removing the necrotic tissue the wound surface should be immediately covered with autogenous oder homogenous skin using the mesh graft technique. Necrectomy is a very traumatising operation and its extent has limitations depending on the patient's age.
