Abstract

Neuropsychiatric manifestations that have developed after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection have not been fully clarified yet. Persistent insomnia and consequent significant impairment in daily functioning is an unexpected symptom of COVID-19 infection. In this case report, a 13-year-old female patient who presented with complaint of insomnia starting with COVID-19 infection is discussed. The patient showed significant improvement with melatonin treatment and maintained her wellbeing in the follow-up. Melatonin may be a useful option to treat COVID-19-related brief insomnia in adolescents. Our case report will be a step forward to help clinicians examine the underlying neurovegetative mechanisms, such as sleep, to improve patients wellbeing. HEADINGS: COVID-19. Melatonin. 2019冠状病毒病(COVID-19)感染后出现的神经精神表现尚未完全阐明。持续性失眠以及随之而来的日常功能严重受损是COVID-19感染的一个意外症状。在本病例报告中,讨论了一名13岁女性患者,她自COVID-19感染后开始出现失眠症状。该患者接受褪黑素治疗后有显著改善,并在随访中保持良好状态。褪黑素可能是治疗青少年COVID-19相关短期失眠的一个有用选择。我们的病例报告将有助于临床医生进一步研究潜在的神经植物性机制,如睡眠,以改善患者的健康状况。标题:COVID-19。褪黑素。睡眠启动和维持障碍。
