[History of the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic of Basel].

On the fourth of June 1923 the Psychiatric out-patient clinic was opened in the city of Basle as an administratively affiliated, but locally separated department of the Psychiatric University Hospital. The first head of the Psychiatric out-patient clinic was Jakob Klaesi, who was a head-physician in the Friedmatt at the same time. The life and work of the various directors of the out-patient clinic are mentioned. Developmental tendencies in the Psychiatric out-patient clinic--which moved 1977 into the general Hospital (Kantonsspital)--and the various diagnoses with the course of time are discussed.
