A study of mastoid bones showed a central position of stapes only at 67%. At 21% a deviation exist to the side of promontorium and at 12% a position directly at the promontorium. Secondly is to remark the position of the posterior crus incudis lateral on the footplate to the side of promontorium. The cause is to see the movement of the labyrinth in connection with the upright posture.
