Janet Lindsay Greig: a pioneer.

Janet Lindsay Greig was the first women Anaesthetist in Australia; she was also the first Resident Medical Officer who later became an anaesthetist to be trained by E.H. Embley at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Janet Greig played a pioneering role among medical women in Australia. She was a founder of the Queen Victoria Hospital, Melbourne. A brief resume is given of the history of the entry of women into the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Melbourne; of the first appointments of women as Resident Medical Officers, and of the foundation of the Queen Victoria Hospital.
