We present a genome assembly from an individual female (the Stripe-backed Dasysyrphus; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Syrphidae). The genome sequence is 662.5 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 5 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 17.55 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 12,259 protein coding genes.
