Abstract
The aetiology of recurrent aphthous ulceration (RAU) is not known with certainty. An association between emotional stress and the condition exists in susceptible patients. Twelve patients with RAU with histories of severe emotional stress were treated with flupenthixol and melitracen. The majority derived benefits from it. It might be recommended in the treatment of emotionally disturbed patients due to its effectiveness and freedom from serious side-effects.
