Thalamic electrical stimulation in 3 patients alleviated chronic pain, absence attacks and spontaneously occurring delta and theta EEG discharges. It is suggested that diencephalic discharges may activate and/or lower the threshold for pain at the level of the diencephalon.

对3例患者进行丘脑电刺激可缓解慢性疼痛、失神发作以及自发出现的δ波和θ波脑电图放电。提示间脑放电可能在间脑水平激活和/或降低疼痛阈值。
