Abstract

The soybean aphid, Matsumura, 1917, is a crucial soybean pest. Cultivated soybean, (Carl von Linné) Elmer Drew Merrill, 1917, and wild soybean, Philipp Franz von Siebold & Joseph Gerhard Zuccarini, 1843, are summer hosts of . In this study, the development, reproduction, and morphogenesis of fed wild soybean (FW) were studied at different temperatures and photoperiods. The data were compared with that of fed soybean (FS). At 20-29 °C, the adult lifespan of the first-third-generation FW was shorter than or equal to that of FS. Significant differences existed in the adult fecundity and intrinsic rate of increase between FW and FS. At a 10L:14D h photoperiod, males of FW were deposited earlier than, or as early as, males of FS. At 17 °C, the gynoparae of FW were deposited in proportions greater than or equal to those of FS. Based on these results, we concluded that the adaptability of FW and FS to temperature and photoperiod significantly differs. It is important to understand the life cycle of in Harbin, northeast China, and formulate an integrated pest management strategy for in the region.
