Abstract

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a form of chronic liver disease that is characterized by liver inflammation and steatosis, with possible progression to fibrosis. Currently, no drugs have been approved for the treatment of NASH. In this study, we isolated a polysaccharide from rhizome (AP) and established a methionine- and choline-deficient (MCD) diet -induced NASH mouse model to investigate the preventive effect and potential mechanism of AP on NASH. The results showed that AP effectively reduced liver lipid accumulation and inflammation and reduced autophagy and ferroptosis in hepatocytes, thereby preventing the development of NASH. These findings suggest that AP may be a promising natural candidate for the treatment of NASH.

非酒精性脂肪性肝炎(NASH)是一种慢性肝病,其特征为肝脏炎症和脂肪变性,并可能进展为肝纤维化。目前,尚无药物被批准用于治疗NASH。在本研究中,我们从根茎中分离出一种多糖(AP),并建立了蛋氨酸和胆碱缺乏(MCD)饮食诱导的NASH小鼠模型,以研究AP对NASH的预防作用及其潜在机制。结果表明,AP能有效减少肝脏脂质蓄积和炎症,降低肝细胞中的自噬和铁死亡,从而预防NASH的发展。这些发现表明,AP可能是一种有前景的治疗NASH的天然候选物。
