The aim of this study was to determine the attitudes of medical trainees and interns towards ageism and the factors that influence their attitudes. The population of the descriptive and cross-sectional study consisted of 165 trainees and 495 interns, a total of 660 medical students. The Turkish version of the Fraboni Scale of Ageism was used to evaluate attitudes toward older adult among medical students. Students of male gender, medical trainees, not living with grandparents, not visiting nursing homes, those who do not intend to pursue a career in geriatric medicine, and no prior care experiences with older adults were more likely to have negative attitudes toward older adults (p<0,05). The conclusion of this study was that the students who took part were more likely to have slightly negative attitudes toward older adults. However, medical trainees have more positive attitudes than interns. It is recommended that medical students should have a geriatric rotation, that students should be counseled on this issue, that ageing and the ageing process should be included more in the curriculum, and that interaction with older people in clinical practice and field studies should be increased.
本研究的目的是确定医学实习生和住院医师对年龄歧视的态度以及影响其态度的因素。描述性横断面研究的对象包括165名实习生和495名住院医师，共计660名医学生。使用土耳其语版的弗拉博尼年龄歧视量表来评估医学生对老年人的态度。男性医学生、医学实习生、不与祖父母同住、不参观养老院、不打算从事老年医学职业且此前没有照顾老年人经历的学生，对老年人更有可能持消极态度（p<0.05）。本研究的结论是，参与研究的学生对老年人更有可能持轻微消极态度。然而，医学实习生比住院医师态度更积极。建议医学生应进行老年医学轮转，应就该问题对学生进行辅导，应在课程中更多地纳入衰老及衰老过程的内容，并且应增加临床实践和实地研究中与老年人的互动。
