[New instruments for the removal of an artificial hip joint from the shaft].

Two new instruments for the removal of intact of broken stems of artificial hip joints are described. The instruments and their application are illustrated in the figures 1-4. They produce a force along the longitudinal direction of the femur which breaks the metal to bone-cement bond. The use of these instruments reduces problems which may arise from fracture of the cortical bone of the femoral shaft or from an impairment of sterility.
