Abstract

Fertility rates are declining in livestock such as cattle, and more than one in five Japanese couples have undergone infertility treatment or are currently infertile. Improving the fertilization rates of domesticated animals is imperative for improving their productivity and maintaining valuable lineages. In this study, the effects of rutin and quercetin on fertility and pregnancy rates were investigated by incorporating these compounds into the preculture medium for fertilization (IVF) or administering them orally to mice. The addition of rutin and quercetin to the preculture medium increased the IVF fertilization rate by more than twofold. Oral administration of rutin and quercetin to aged male and nulliparous female mice improved pregnancy outcomes. These findings have important implications for the non-invasive treatment of infertility.

摘要

牛等家畜的生育率正在下降,超过五分之一的日本夫妇接受过不孕治疗或目前患有不孕症。提高家畜的受精率对于提高其生产力和维持珍贵的血统至关重要。在本研究中,通过将芦丁和槲皮素添加到体外受精(IVF)的预培养基中或对小鼠口服给药,研究了它们对生育率和妊娠率的影响。在预培养基中添加芦丁和槲皮素可使IVF受精率提高两倍以上。对老年雄性和未生育雌性小鼠口服芦丁和槲皮素可改善妊娠结局。这些发现对不孕症的非侵入性治疗具有重要意义。
