The present study utilized advanced psychometric methods (i.e., Rasch analysis and confirmatory factor analysis [CFA]) to evaluate the factor structure of the Multiple Intelligence Scale (MIS) and its validity among Taiwanese older adults.
A cross-sectional study design using convenience sampling was conducted among 200 community-dwelling participants aged 65 years or older.
The Rasch analyses showed that the MIS had good structure validity and unidimensionality. Among various CFA models testing the MIS factor structure, exploratory structural equation modelling performed the best given its parsimonious and excellent fit indices.
The MIS can be used among older adults in a culturally-fair way for understanding their multiple intelligences. Using the MIS, healthcare providers could encourage older people to assess their own strengths and weaknesses of intelligence. The results suggest that more research on older adults' MI is needed to tailor bespoke therapeutic programs to individual needs in community settings.
本研究采用先进的心理测量方法（即拉施分析和验证性因素分析[CFA]）来评估多元智能量表（MIS）的因素结构及其在台湾老年人中的效度。
采用便利抽样的横断面研究设计，对200名65岁及以上的社区居住参与者进行了研究。
拉施分析表明，MIS具有良好的结构效度和单维性。在测试MIS因素结构的各种CFA模型中，探索性结构方程建模因其简约且出色的拟合指数而表现最佳。
MIS可以以文化公平的方式用于老年人，以了解他们的多元智能。使用MIS，医疗保健提供者可以鼓励老年人评估自己智力的优势和劣势。结果表明，需要对老年人的多元智能进行更多研究，以便在社区环境中根据个人需求定制量身定制的治疗方案。
