Primordial odontogenic tumour (POT) was added as a new entity in the recent World Health Organization (WHO) 2017 Classification of Head and Neck Tumours. We hereby report a rare case of POT of posterior mandible. A 9-year-old male patient presented with a swelling in his left lower jaw. Histopathological examination showed myxoid connective tissue stroma and stratified epithelium without any rete peg formation resembling odontogenic epithelium. Enucleation was performed and the histopathological diagnosis was given as primordial odontogenic tumor. The clinical and histopathologic data of previously reported 25 cases along with our case will help to differentiate this new entity from other odontogenic tumours and also prevent unnecessary over-treatment.
原始牙源性肿瘤(POT)在世界卫生组织(WHO)2017年最新版头颈部肿瘤分类中被列为一种新的肿瘤类型。我们在此报告一例罕见的下颌骨后部原始牙源性肿瘤病例。一名9岁男性患者因左下颌肿胀就诊。组织病理学检查显示为黏液样结缔组织基质和分层上皮,无任何类似牙源性上皮的上皮钉突形成。实施了肿瘤摘除术,组织病理学诊断为原始牙源性肿瘤。将先前报道的25例病例以及我们这例病例的临床和组织病理学数据汇总,将有助于鉴别这一新的肿瘤类型与其他牙源性肿瘤,同时避免不必要的过度治疗。
