Our team recognizes the importance of an ethics of care and building a collaborative interdisciplinary environment of “appropriate mutual critique.” Still, given the very small sample, the methodology, and the narrowness of the particular project reported on in the target article, we found ourselves frustrated in relation to the analysis and overall presentation of the results. We offer contrasting evidence, raise concerns about the framing of power dynamics between neuroethicists and neuroscientists and about this use of duoethnography, and close with recommendations for forbearance, trust and respect to achieve success in interdisciplinary collaboration.
