Abstract

Worldwide, chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a systemic healthcare burden, necessitating continuous innovation in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Henceforth, many research endeavors have been pursued to develop point-of-care (POC) technologies aimed at recognizing CKD biomarkers. This research put forwards a comprehensive overview of recent advances in patentable technologies designed specifically to diagnose and treat CKD. Specifically, this review explores cutting-edge biomarkers, imaging techniques, and POC testing methods that enable early and accurate CKD detection. This exploration highlights the intersection of diagnostic innovation and intellectual property, focusing on patentable technologies that are reshaping CKD management. The paper discusses the implications of patent protection on fostering research and development, encouraging investment in CKD technologies, and ultimately improving patient outcomes. The analysis expands to cover the contemporary challenges for the technological advancement towards the early diagnosis and treatment of CKD. By integrating insights from recent patent filings, this review disseminates relevant and state-of-the art information for the evolving landscape of CKD diagnosis and treatment, guiding researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers toward future advancements in kidney healthcare.
