The paper is concerned with the results of a randomized study of surgical and combined treatment of colon cancer patients using intensive preoperative irradiation; 102 were operated upon, 43 received combined treatment. It was shown that preoperative treatment did not raise the number of complications. Combined treatment made it possible to reduce the frequency of recurrences improving the 3-year survival rates.
