Supply chains in modern economy are fragmented and globalized following international specialization. It brings economic benefits while at the same time may raise propagated risks along supply chains. Facing the same disastrous event, some firms/regions/countries appeared to cope with it more quickly and efficiently due to their resilient supply chains. In the current world where major emergencies and disasters occur frequently, we urgently call for more effective strategies to strengthen supply chain resilience (SCR). We further stress that SCR strategies build on more solid scientific research including properly measuring SCR at both micro- and macro- levels and conducting appropriate assessment of economic risks to supply chain disruptions.
现代经济中的供应链随着国际专业化而变得分散且全球化。它带来了经济效益,但同时也可能增加供应链中的传播性风险。面对同样的灾难性事件,一些公司/地区/国家由于其有韧性的供应链,似乎能更快、更有效地应对。在当前重大紧急情况和灾难频繁发生的世界中,我们迫切需要更有效的策略来增强供应链韧性(SCR)。我们进一步强调,供应链韧性策略基于更坚实的科学研究,包括在微观和宏观层面正确衡量供应链韧性,以及对供应链中断的经济风险进行适当评估。
