Patients with genitourinary prostheses, especially the hydraulic variety, will be encountered with increasing frequency in the future and present special problems to the urologist who is called in for intraoperative consultation. Knowledge of the design and operation of these devices, as well as certain operative principles unique to these prostheses, permits the urologist to deal effectively with these situations.
