Laryngeal cancer has a high survival rate, yet the loss of the natural voice and a host of physical and psychosocial problems make recovery especially difficult. Written according to the outline followed by the articles in Health and Social Work's November 1981 Supplement on Specialization and Specialty Interests, this article provides a social work perspective on the needs, care, and rehabilitation of laryngectomy patients.
