[Artefacts of lipid electrophoresis: edge zoning effects in agarose gel (author's transl)].

The evaluation of lipid electropherograms obtained by electrophoresis in agarose gel is sometimes difficult owing to methodological errors, e. g. the artificial mal-formation of individual lipoprotein bands. It was shown that this "edge zoning effect", e. g. resulting from broadened bands with irregular boundries, can be abolished by the addition of EDTA (0,36 g/l buffer) to the gel.
