Abstract

BACKGROUND

Health promotion of children and adolescents through participation in purposeful and meaningful activities is one of the focuses of occupational therapy. In this study, in line with the Iranian culture, a tool for assessment of Iranian adolescents' participation in daily occupations/activities was developed and validated.

METHOD

An exploratory sequential mixed method was used to develop and validate the tool. Content and structural validity and reliability of the initial version were estimated.

RESULTS

During the validation process, the items were reduced to 54. Data were collected from 481 adolescents to investigate factor analysis. According to principal component analysis, the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin index was 0.88, and the analysis yielded seven factors explaining 47.2% of the total variance. The tool showed excellent internal consistency and test-retest reliability.

CONCLUSION

This newly developed Participation Assessment Tool for Iranian adolescents is a valid and reliable measure for assessing the participation of this group in daily activities.

通过参与有目的且有意义的活动促进儿童和青少年的健康是职业治疗的重点之一。在本研究中,根据伊朗文化,开发并验证了一种用于评估伊朗青少年参与日常职业/活动的工具。

方法

采用探索性序列混合方法来开发和验证该工具。对初始版本的内容、结构效度和信度进行了评估。

结果

在验证过程中,项目减少到54项。从481名青少年中收集数据以进行因子分析。根据主成分分析,凯泽-迈耶-奥尔金指数为0.88,分析得出七个因子,解释了总方差的47.2%。该工具显示出优异的内部一致性和重测信度。

结论

这种新开发的伊朗青少年参与评估工具是评估该群体参与日常活动的有效且可靠的测量工具。
