Abstract

BACKGROUND

Calcium (Ca) is the most plentiful mineral in the body that partakes in various signaling pathways, such as the growth of nerve cells during the embryonic period and in the transmission of nerve messages. Aberration in Ca homeostasis has been involved in the neuropsychiatric disorders.

METHODS AND RESULTS

We have investigated expression levels of SLC1A1, SLC25A12, and ATP2B2 genes from Ca signaling pathway, in addition to their related lncRNAs in the blood of patients with schizophrenia. Our results revealed substantial differences in the expression of ATP2B2, SLC1A1, SLC25A12, and lnc-MTR-1:1 between cases and controls. SLC25A12 had the premier AUC value for distinction of schizophrenia patients from healthy controls. SLC1A1 ranked second in terms of AUC value.

CONCLUSIONS

Cumulatively, we demonstrated aberrations in the expression of Ca-related genes in schizophrenia. These genes might be regarded as potential markers in schizophrenia.

背景

钙(Ca)是人体中含量最丰富的矿物质,参与多种信号通路,如胚胎期神经细胞的生长以及神经信息的传递。钙稳态异常与神经精神疾病有关。

方法与结果

我们研究了精神分裂症患者血液中钙信号通路相关的SLC1A1、SLC25A12和ATP2B2基因及其相关长链非编码RNA的表达水平。我们的结果显示,病例组和对照组之间ATP2B2、SLC1A1、SLC25A12和lnc-MTR-1:1的表达存在显著差异。SLC25A12在区分精神分裂症患者和健康对照方面具有最高的曲线下面积(AUC)值。SLC1A1的AUC值排名第二。

结论
