In France, health promotion actors are faced with a strong demand from institutions to base their actions on so-called "evidence-based" data. In line with the definition of evidence-based health promotion, this evidence lies at the intersection of scientific, contextual, and experiential data.
This article presents the methodological approach used to build a national system for capitalizing on experience to disseminate experiential expertise in health promotion, in order to meet the political challenges associated with the recognition of this expertise.
Since 2017, a national working group has carried out five activities, the results of which are presented A focused literature search, A sharing of experiences in the development of knowledge about health promotion interventions, Benchmarking of capitalization methods and tools developed in different fields, Skills development for group members, The development and testing of a rigorous capitalization method, the construction of tools tailored to the field of health promotion, and the definition of interactive methods for disseminating knowledge.
The discussion tackles subjects of ongoing debate within the working group and beyond: the link between capitalization and evaluation, capitalization and research; the choice of a structured capitalization interview vs. that of a free and open narrative; the need for ethical reflection. The conditions for the deployment of experience capitalization are discussed in the conclusion.
