Accurate disability assessment is a crucial aspect of ensuring that individuals receive the appropriate benefits for their daily lives. The study aimed to evaluate the management and factors of compliance with regulations and medical assessment procedures. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. The study period was from October 2022 to October 2023 at Hanoi Medical Assessment Center, Hanoi, Vietnam. Quantitative information was collected, following the 8-step process for disability assessment, issued by the Minister of Health, Vietnam. For qualitative research, people with disabilities and their guardians, dossier-receiving and reception offers, the center leader, staff from District labor and social affairs department, medical evaluators were dept-interviewed. Most of the medical assessment cases (98.3%, n = 113) had their identification documents verified by the receiving staff. Percentage of assessment documentation was 98.3% (n = 113). All cases underwent specialized examination, with internal medicine being the most common (39.1%). A 99.1% (n = 114) of participants received professional consultation. All cases involved medical assessment council meetings. All cases (100%, n = 115) had records stored in accordance with regulations. Primary concerns were the financial burden and complicated procedures placed on patients who must undergo multiple specialist consultations. The study confirmed the effectiveness of the current referral system at the Hanoi Medical Assessment Center, it also points to the need for ongoing improvements. By addressing the financial burden and enhancing the coordination between healthcare providers, the disability assessment process can be made more efficient and equitable.
