To evaluate the morphological changes in the ex-vivo trabecular meshwork TM specimens from patients with primary congenital glaucoma.
Five trabecular meshwork (TM) specimens obtained after microincisional trabeculectomy from 4 patients with primary congenital glaucoma (mean age) were analyzed using and eosin staining.
The trabecular meshwork in PCG showed an expansion of the juxtacanalicular and corneoscleral meshwork regions with increased cellularity, thickened TM beams, prominent spindle-shaped nuclei suggesting epithelial mesenchymal transformation predominantly and two morphologically distinct zones of the juxtacanalicular region.
Increased cellularity, zonal expansion and mesenchymal changes in specific TM regions suggest aberrant differentiation and differential dysgenesis of different TM regions in PCG.

原发性先天性青光眼患者的小梁网显示近管区和角膜巩膜网区域扩张,细胞增多,TM束增厚,梭形核突出,主要提示上皮-间质转化,且近管区有两个形态学上不同的区域。
特定TM区域的细胞增多、区域扩张和间质变化提示原发性先天性青光眼不同TM区域存在异常分化和差异性发育异常。
