The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects on the sex life of male partners of female patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) who received positive airway pressure (PAP) treatment.
This prospective study included the male partners of 31 female premenopausal or perimenopausal patients who presented at the sleep laboratory of two different hospitals, were diagnosed with OSAS, and then underwent PAP treatment. The mean age of the cases included in the study was calculated to be 47.68 ± 6.05 years (range, 37-55 years). Analyses were made of the sociodemographic characteristics of the study participants (age, gender, body mass index [BMI]) and the presence of risk factor diseases. The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were applied to the male partners of the females with OSAS both before and after the PAP treatment. Correlations between the pre and post-treatment measurements were evaluated statistically.
The mean IIEF score of the male partners of the female OSAS patients after PAP was determined to be 62.61 ± 11.88, and a total 7.77 ± 9.87 unit increase was found to be statistically significant (p = 0.001; p < 0.01). A statistically significant decrease was observed in the BDI scores after PAP treatment (p = 0.001; p < 0.01).
The study results showed an increase in the IIEF scores and a decrease in the BDI scores of the male partners of female patients with OSAS who were treated with PAP. Thus it was shown that the sexual dysfunction and depression that can develop in the male partners of females diagnosed with OSAS can be corrected with PAP treatment.
本研究旨在评估经气道正压通气（PAP）治疗的阻塞性睡眠呼吸暂停综合征（OSAS）女性患者的男性伴侣的性生活所受影响。
这项前瞻性研究纳入了31名绝经前或围绝经期女性患者的男性伴侣，这些女性患者在两家不同医院的睡眠实验室就诊，被诊断为OSAS，随后接受了PAP治疗。研究纳入病例的平均年龄经计算为47.68±6.05岁（范围37 - 55岁）。分析了研究参与者的社会人口学特征（年龄、性别、体重指数[BMI]）以及危险因素疾病的存在情况。对患有OSAS的女性的男性伴侣在PAP治疗前后应用国际勃起功能指数（IIEF）和贝克抑郁量表（BDI）。对治疗前后测量值之间的相关性进行了统计学评估。
PAP治疗后，女性OSAS患者的男性伴侣的平均IIEF评分为62.61±11.88，发现总体增加7.77±9.87个单位具有统计学意义（p = 0.001；p < 0.01）。PAP治疗后BDI评分出现统计学显著下降（p = 0.001；p < 0.01）。
研究结果显示，接受PAP治疗的OSAS女性患者的男性伴侣的IIEF评分增加，BDI评分下降。因此表明，被诊断为OSAS的女性的男性伴侣中可能出现的性功能障碍和抑郁可通过PAP治疗得到纠正。
