Primary submucosal esophageal abscess.

Primary submucosal esophageal abscess is an extremely rare entity, often presenting as a diagnostic and therapeutic dilemma. We report the case of a previously healthy 20 year old male who presented with progressive dysphagia primarily to solids, epigastric pain, and intermittent fever of 01-week duration. On investigation, he had neutrophilic leukocytosis. Contrast-enhanced computerized tomography (CECT) of the chest and abdomen showed focal esophageal wall thickening and distal esophageal dilatation.
