[Causes of death of alcoholics].

An analysis of the representative material revealed a high rate of mortality among alcoholics, which was much higher than the similar rate among sex- and age-matched control subjects. The leading causes of death were accidents, injuries, poisoning, cardiovascular diseases and neoplasms. Other causes of mortality include suicide, liver cirrhosis and lung tuberculosis.
