[Difficulties in the evaluation of melanoma recurrences following iridocyclectomy].

Report on a 30-year-old male patient suffering from malignant melanoma (spindle-cell type A) of the iris and ciliary body who developed pigmentation within the scar tissue, diagnosed as melanoma recurrence, 2 years after iridocyclectomy. Therefore, enbloc excision was performed 5 years after the first tumor excision. Histologic examination revealed no tumor cells, only melanophagocytosis and local proliferation of lens epithelium in the form of Wedl bladder cells.
