Prospects for improved prevention and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders: .

Progress in Neuroscience and related fields of research is deepening our understanding of the causes and pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders and opening new avenues for their improved control. Together with more refined diagnostics, this is leading to an increased focus on prevention and early intervention as well as disease-modification, as opposed to predominantly symptomatic therapy. In addition to novel psychotherapeutic and pharmacological strategies, innovative modalities of treatment are emerging, from RNA therapeutics to neurorobotics, and they are being better matched to the risk and resilience profiles, needs and desires of individual patients. Diverse aspects of this ongoing transformation will be discussed herein and related to the goals and mission of , the new open access journal of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP). It is our ambition that this new academic journal will advance and reinforce the foundations of applied neuroscience.
