Abstract

The emerging pervasiveness of osteoarthritis (OA) in the general population has necessitated the exploration of the design and development of novel treatment options. The joint has been recognized as a separate entity undergoing degenerative processes, highlighting the multifaceted nature of osteoarthritis. OA is a widespread and disabling chronic joint condition, primarily affecting the elderly population. Despite incremental advances in our understanding of OA pathophysiology and the development of new treatment strategies, the long-term management of this complex disease remains a significant challenge. Emerging evidence highlights the central role of inflammatory markers progression of OA. This comprehensive review aims to synthesize the latest insights into OA disease mechanisms and explore how these advancements can be leveraged to improve clinical outcomes, while also addressing the persistent roadblocks that continue to hinder effective management. Furthermore, this review provides comprehensive insights into the novel anti-inflammatory compounds along with other developments in the field of osteoarthritis management.
