The Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory-Short Version (YPI-S) is a widely used self-report measure assessing psychopathic traits across three dimensions: Grandiose-Manipulative (GM), Callous-Unemotional (CU), and Impulsive-Irresponsible (II). Although originally developed for adolescents, emerging evidence suggests its relevance for adults. However, its psychometric properties have not been evaluated in adult clinical populations. This study addressed that gap by examining the factor structure, measurement invariance, internal consistency, and validity of the YPI-S in a clinical sample of adults.
417 adult outpatients (aged 18-65; M = 34.48, SD = 9.64; 37.1% male) from Taleghani Hospital in Tehran, Iran, completed the measures.
Confirmatory factor analysis supported the expected hierarchical three-factor structure, with measurement invariance across sex groups. The YPI-S also demonstrated adequate internal consistency and yielded theoretically consistent associations with maladaptive personality traits (e.g., Antagonism, Negative Affectivity, Detachment, and Anankastia), supporting its convergent and discriminant validity.
These findings provide preliminary support for the YPI-S as a reliable and valid measure of psychopathic traits in adult clinical populations, with potential utility in both research and applied settings.
青少年精神病态特质量表简版（YPI-S）是一种广泛使用的自我报告量表，用于评估精神病态特质的三个维度：自大-操纵性（GM）、冷酷-无情（CU）和冲动-不负责任（II）。尽管该量表最初是为青少年开发的，但新出现的证据表明它对成年人也具有相关性。然而，其心理测量特性尚未在成人临床人群中进行评估。本研究通过考察YPI-S在成人临床样本中的因子结构、测量不变性、内部一致性和效度，填补了这一空白。
来自伊朗德黑兰塔莱哈尼医院的417名成年门诊患者（年龄18 - 65岁；M = 34.48，SD = 9.64；37.1%为男性）完成了这些测量。
验证性因子分析支持预期的层次三因子结构，且在不同性别组间具有测量不变性。YPI-S还表现出足够的内部一致性，并与适应不良人格特质（如敌对性、消极情感性、疏离性和强迫性）产生了理论上一致的关联，支持了其收敛效度和区分效度。
这些发现为YPI-S作为成人临床人群中精神病态特质的可靠有效测量工具提供了初步支持，在研究和应用环境中均具有潜在效用。
