Assessment of teratogenic potential of therapeutic agents: preclinical toxicology.

An overview of the science of teratology is presented with particular reference to Canadian guidelines for the testing of drugs. The reproductive and teratologic tests in animals which are required by the Canadian regulatory agency are discussed in some detail.
