This article presents an accurate and efficient method for analysing the transmission of [Formula: see text]-polarized electromagnetic waves through a slot in a thick, perfectly conducting screen. The approach uses an exact singular integral equation formulation, employing asymptotic extraction techniques to decompose the kernels into singular closed-form terms and rapidly converging series. Combining the Nyström method with a specialized quadrature scheme based on variable transformation methods, we propose an algorithm that effectively handles kernel and geometric singularities. Notably, all entries of the Nyström matrix have analytical expressions, eliminating the need for numerical integration. Numerical results confirm the accuracy and computational efficiency of the method, highlighting its suitability for advanced electromagnetic applications. This article is part of the theme issue 'Analytically grounded full-wave methods for advances in computational electromagnetics'.
