During perimetry with the Competer fixation is controlled by random switching of a projector lamp which has to be directed manually into the individual blind spot before the test is started. In order to improve efficacy with regard to time taken, acceptance and validity, a device has been designed which locates and checks the blind spot automatically. An evaluation of relevant data is presented showing that the prototype is already performing satisfactorily.
