With the gradual diversification of the gender structure in Chinese nursing undergraduate education, the number of male nursing students has steadily increased. However, research on the professional identity formation of male nursing students is still limited, particularly in terms of systematically identifying and understanding their intrinsic differences. Therefore, this study aims to identify the professional identity personas of male nursing undergraduates through secondary analysis of existing interview data and explore the characteristics of professional identity construction under different personas.
This study is based on previous qualitative research data from 16 male nursing undergraduates in northern China. Secondary analysis was conducted using Graneheim and Lundman's content analysis method. By extracting factual labels and constructing classification dimensions, the study identifies professional identity types and forms typical professional identity personas.
The study developed eight core themes and categorized them into four types of professional identity personas: (1) Compliant participants with low identity engagement, (2) Value-driven contributors with identity commitment, (3) Transitional adapters with emerging identity, and (4) Reflective strugglers with critical identity rebuilding.
The professional identity formation of male nursing students is notably diverse and complex. Identifying these personas helps nursing educators adopt tailored approaches, providing targeted support and guidance, and fostering gender-friendly and personalized professional development pathways.

随着中国护理本科教育中性别结构的逐渐多样化,男护生人数稳步增加。然而,关于男护生职业认同形成的研究仍然有限,尤其是在系统识别和理解他们的内在差异方面。因此,本研究旨在通过对现有访谈数据的二次分析,识别男性护理本科生的职业认同角色,并探讨不同角色下职业认同构建的特征。
本研究基于之前对中国北方16名男性护理本科生的定性研究数据。采用格兰海姆和伦德曼的内容分析法进行二次分析。通过提取事实标签并构建分类维度,本研究识别职业认同类型并形成典型的职业认同角色。
本研究提出了八个核心主题,并将其分为四种职业认同角色类型:(1)低认同参与度的顺从参与者,(2)有认同承诺的价值驱动贡献者,(3)新兴认同的过渡适应者,以及(4)关键认同重建的反思挣扎者。
男护生的职业认同形成明显多样且复杂。识别这些角色有助于护理教育工作者采用量身定制的方法,提供有针对性的支持和指导,并促进性别友好和个性化的职业发展路径。
