Abstract

As individuals age, their physical, psychological, and spiritual requirements experience substantial changes. Among these, spiritual self-care emerges as a crucial dimension of well-being in later life, contributing meaningfully to improved quality of life and mental health. This study explored older adults' perceptions of spiritual self-care through a qualitative approach grounded in conventional content analysis. Conducted in Iran in 2024, the study involved seventeen elderly participants selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured, in-person interviews and analyzed concurrently with data collection. The analysis yielded eight categories and four overarching themes: Creating Joy in Daily Life Activities, Meditation and Self-Purification, Living and Being with Others, and Exciting Hobbies. The findings suggest that spiritual self-care in older adults encompasses joyful engagement in everyday activities, resilience through religious practices, and a pursuit of inner peace. Furthermore, meaningful social relationships, connection to nature, and engagement with modern tools such as social media, emerged as significant contributors to emotional balance and enhanced life satisfaction in later years.

随着个体年龄的增长,他们的身体、心理和精神需求会发生重大变化。其中,精神自我关怀成为晚年幸福的一个关键维度,对提高生活质量和心理健康有重要贡献。本研究通过基于传统内容分析的定性方法,探讨了老年人对精神自我关怀的看法。该研究于2024年在伊朗进行,通过目的抽样选取了17名老年参与者。数据通过半结构化的面对面访谈收集,并在数据收集的同时进行分析。分析得出了八个类别和四个总体主题:在日常生活活动中创造快乐、冥想与自我净化、与他人生活和相处、以及令人兴奋的爱好。研究结果表明,老年人的精神自我关怀包括在日常活动中愉快地参与、通过宗教实践获得复原力、以及追求内心的平静。此外,有意义的社会关系、与自然的联系以及对社交媒体等现代工具的参与,成为晚年情绪平衡和提高生活满意度的重要因素。
