Abstract

In this work, a selective fluorescent probe PIOr-GSH with pyridine-imidazole moiety was developed for detecting glutathione in pediatric cellular colorectal injury. Compared with the recent probes with the similar backbone, the modification of the hydroxyl position herein resulted in the enhancement of the signal intensity at 485 nm with the excitation of 310 nm. On the optical capabilities, the detecting system with PIOr-GSH exhibited the advantages including applicable linear range, high sensitivity, high steadiness in various working conditions (recognition time, pH, and incubation temperature). In particular, PIOr-GSH achieved the convenient and specific recognition towards GSH from the competing species including Cys/Hcy. As a challenging trial, PIOr-GSH achieved imaging the pediatric cellular colorectal injury status and the treatment efficacy by monitoring the intracellular GSH level. This work was meaningful for the rapid diagnosis and urgent therapeutics in the pediatric emergency.
