Hemorrhoid disease is common in the Western world with a billion-dollar impact on health care spending. Numerous treatments are available, including surgical and nonoperative options. A plan of care should be made that is tailored to disease anatomy, symptom severity, and relevant medical comorbidities after addressing modifiable risk factors. The authors present a review of the disease pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment options for hemorrhoid disease.
